Chris and I
did a 10 day backpacking trip in the Weminuche
Wilderness in the San
Juan National Forest in southwestern Colorado with out friends
Kate and Nick in July 2003. Sitting in camp one afternoon, I was
taken by the patterns formed by Douglas
Fir needles on the snow packs. In this case, the needles looked
like they formed a Japanese of Chinese character sometimes known
as Kanji. I asked
a Japanese friend of mine if this resembled any character, and she
said it resembled the character for umbrella.
Comparing the two images, we decided that this umbrella was definitely
broken. |
