Madrona Abstract 2- USE CODE "CNAB66" FOR ORDERING

The Pacific
Madrona, Arbutus menziesii, grows generally along the Pacific
Coast from the Coronado Islands to southwestern British Columbia.
The bark of this tree fascinates me because of the constrasting
green and red colors. The paper-thin red bark peels as the tree
grows, revealing a light green underneath. The moss growing along
the base of the trees in the Standish-Hickey State Park in Northern
California adds to the contrast. This detail picture was taken in
May, 2005. |
