Jeffrey Pine Snags - USE CODE "CNLS24" FOR ORDERING

The Western Yellow Pine, or the Jeffrey Pine, Pinus jeffreyi, grows on dry mountain slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The snags are often long standing, and true to their name, the wood of these trees are richly colored. These snags were located in the Golden Trout Wilderness, by Chicken Springs Lake, south of Mount Whitney. This picture was taken in early July, 1996, while I was on my first backpacking trip in the area.
