 Yellow/Red Opuntia - USE CODE "CNAB53V" FOR ORDERING |
There are numerous
species of the genus opuntia in the Southwest, otherwise known as
prickly pear and cholla cactus. This particular prickly pear caught
my eye while I was camping in the Chiricahua Mountains southeast
of Tucson in March, 2006. I literally stopped dead in my tracks
because in the 27 years I have lived in Arizona, I have never seen
a prickly pear turn this color, and this plant appears to be suffering
from the drought we have been experiencing. |
