Agave parryi - USE CODE "CNAB63" FOR ORDERING

The species, Agave parryi var. parryi, is found in the USA (Arizona, New Mexico) and Mexico (Chihuahua, Durango). Like most agaves, known as century plants, the plant does not flower until maturity at 15 years or more. At this time, a large flower spike grows from the center of the plant. After it produces seeds, the plant then dies. I really enjoy the repeating curves in this image, especially the impressions left on the inner leaves by the thorns of the outer leaves. This picture was taken in May, 2006 in southern California.
