Red Agave palmeri - USE CODE "CNAB99" FOR ORDERING

The Agave palmeri grows at moderate to high elevations in the desert, often found in oak grasslands. This picture was taken in September, 2007 in Chiricahua mountains in southeastern Arizona. The four shots here (this and the three previous) are close-ups focusing on color and the thorns. Believe you me, I lost quite a bit of skin getting these shots. Some of the agaves in this area were dying, but not because they had flowered. I am assuming something ate the roots. What I found interesting is that these agaves were turning red and yellow, which I thought only happened with the Agave shawii.
