Algae on Travertine, Havasu Falls - USE CODE "CNAB50" FOR ORDERING

The Havasupai Reservation on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is home to some of the most spectacular falls in the United States. It is a 10 mile hike to the falls - and boy is it worth it, and you can camp or stay at the lodge. You will generally see photos of the large falls flowing over travertine with turqouise pools below. I found the finer details within the region to be rich in images. My favorite is this photo of water running over algae that has colonized a travertine wall. I hiked to the falls with 11 other folks associated with the Arizona Hydrological Society in May 1999.
