Mexican Blue Oak- USE CODE "CNAB06" FOR ORDERING
|
The Mexican
Blue Oak, Quercus oblongifolia, is found in the southeastern
part of Arizona and the Northern Mexico state of Sonora. Like many
drought-tolerant trees, this species can allow portions of the tree
to die to allow the rest to survive. Thus, wood like this is exposed.
This particular trunk was too beautiful to pass up, with it's intricate
swirling pattern. I found this tree in the Rincon Mountains east
of Tucson, while I was backpacking in February, 2003. |
